Before starting to investigate Women's and Gender Studies in Turkey, the scholars from Bremen and Istanbul have been mapping the current position of women's movements within different socio-cultural and regional settings in Turkey in a previous project. The diversity of women's movements and gender-based political positions in Turkey was analyzed considering the complexity of the social structures in the country. The central question of the study was whether and to what extent these women's movements, despite their differences, work together and, if so, which common, overarching objectives they pursue.
The research project "Comparing women's movements in Turkey" was implemented from 2014 – 2017, also within the Blickwechsel Programme.
The results of the study are available on this page in German, English, Turkish und Kurdish!
