Dear Blickwechsel friends,

Some exciting weeks are on the horizon and we are more than happy to share the news on upcoming events, call for papers and recent publications with you.

First and foremost, the preparations for our conference "We, the City. Plurality and Resistance in Berlin and Istanbul" are currently in full swing: The event will take place on May 23-25, 2019 in Berlin and invites activists, cultural producers and scholars alike to examine how residents of Berlin and Istanbul experience, express and resist the re-ordering of their cities. Furthermore, we want to draw your attention to the "Bosphorus Prize" and the respective Call for Papers on EU, Germany and Turkey relations.

Besides, we also share some news from our research projects – with special regard to the upcoming exhibition opening of "Courageous Women: Women's and Gender Studies in Turkey's Academia".

Against this backdrop, stay tuned and spread the word!
We hope to see you all at our upcoming events.

Warm regards,
the Blickwechsel team

Conference: "We, the City. Plurality and Resistance in Berlin and Istanbul"

May 23-25, 2019

Who are we, the city? Can we find the elements of an egalitarian democratic imaginary and a non-hegemonic conception of 'we' by thinking the instances of resistance in Berlin and Istanbul together? Taking this question as a starting point, the conference "We, the City. Plurality and Resistance in Berlin and Istanbul" invites for the course of three days practitioners and theorists of the urban to explore various forms of knowledge-production – including moderated talks, panels and installations.

Venues: Moviemento Kino, Humboldt Graduate School (Festsaal), Tieranatomisches Theater and Aquarium (Südblock)
